MockMind is committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) and IT Act 2000. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights as a Data Principal.

2. Data We Collect

When you use MockMind, we collect: (a) Account data — name, email address, password (encrypted via Clerk); (b) Usage data — interview sessions, questions answered, AI feedback, progress; (c) Voice data — your spoken answers (processed in real-time, not permanently stored); (d) Camera data — face detection for monitoring (processed locally in your browser, never sent to our servers); (e) Technical data — browser type, device information, IP address.

3. Purpose of Data Processing

We use your data to: (a) Provide AI mock interview services; (b) Generate personalized feedback; (c) Track your interview history and progress; (d) Send important account communications; (e) Improve our AI interviewer (without using your specific voice data); (f) Prevent abuse of free tier; (g) Comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data based on: (a) Your consent (when signing up); (b) Performance of our service contract with you; (c) Legitimate interests in preventing fraud and abuse; (d) Compliance with Indian laws.

5. Your Rights Under DPDP Act 2023

As a Data Principal in India, you have the right to: (a) Access — request copies of your personal data; (b) Correction — update inaccurate information; (c) Erasure — delete your account and personal data; (d) Withdraw consent — anytime through Settings; (e) Grievance redressal — contact our grievance officer. Exercise these rights from your Settings page or by emailing supportmockmind@gmail.com.

6. Account Deletion & Email Blocking

You can delete your account anytime from Settings. Upon deletion: (a) Your personal data will be permanently removed; (b) Your interview history will be deleted; (c) Your email address will be retained in our security blocklist to prevent abuse of our free tier. You may request full deletion (including blocklist removal) by contacting supportmockmind@gmail.com.

7. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase (database) and Clerk (authentication) — both are SOC 2 compliant. We implement reasonable security safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security audits. We will notify you and the Data Protection Board within 72 hours of any data breach as required by the DPDP Act.

8. Voice & Camera Data

MockMind uses your microphone and camera during interviews. Voice data is processed in real-time by ElevenLabs and OpenAI for speech recognition — it is not permanently stored on our servers. Camera data is processed locally in your browser using face-api.js for face detection — it never leaves your device. We do NOT record or store your video or audio.

9. Resume Upload & Processing

MockMind offers an optional resume upload feature to personalize your interview experience. Important details: (a) Resume upload is completely OPTIONAL — you can use MockMind without uploading any resume; (b) Supported formats: PDF and DOCX only; (c) Maximum file size: 5 MB; (d) Your resume is processed IN-MEMORY only during your active interview session; (e) Resume content is sent securely to Anthropic Claude AI to generate personalized questions based on your skills, projects, and experience; (f) We do NOT store your resume in our database, file storage, or any persistent location; (g) Your resume data is automatically discarded when your interview session ends or when you exit; (h) You may remove your uploaded resume at any time using the Remove button before starting the interview.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We may use analytics cookies to understand platform usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect functionality.

11. Third-Party Services

We use these processors who may receive your data: (a) Clerk — authentication; (b) Supabase — database storage; (c) Anthropic Claude — AI interviewer; (d) ElevenLabs — text-to-speech; (e) OpenAI — backup TTS; (f) Razorpay — payments. Each has their own privacy policy governing data use.

12. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary: (a) Account data — while your account is active; (b) Usage data — up to 2 years for service improvement; (c) Blocked emails — indefinitely (for abuse prevention); (d) After account deletion — personal data removed within 30 days.

13. Cross-Border Data Transfer

Some of our service providers (Clerk, Supabase, OpenAI, Anthropic) may process data outside India. We ensure these providers comply with adequate data protection standards as per Indian regulations.

14. Children's Privacy

MockMind is intended for users aged 18 and above. Per DPDP Act 2023, users under 18 require verifiable parental consent. We do not knowingly collect data from minors without parental consent.

15. Grievance Officer

Per Indian IT Rules 2011 and DPDP Act 2023, our Grievance Officer is contactable at: Email — supportmockmind@gmail.com. We will respond to all grievances within 15 days as required by law.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
